Some new commissions, and a plan.

While I'm at it, I figured I'd go ahead and post some recent commissions that I got out of the way, some simple designs.

As for the plan -- I've been really considering the move to wordpress for my blog, since it seems to be the mix of being more widely used, as well as there present the better ability to integrate the layout and style into my website. 

The VioletDrop Cafe

This is a new project I hope to get started on quickly - I don't often have ideas for branding/identity packages now that I've finished my own... So I thought I'd go ahead and make one for the business that one of my Original Characters have -- A cafe called the VioletDrop.

Belated Happy Halloween!

I hope you all had a nice Halloween. I didn't really go out to do anything, but I still dressed up for a while:

Anyhow, I've went ahead and redone my website - I plan to try and design and code up one or two more to get myself back into practice so that I can try to take a few simple jobs. Otherwise, I plan to try and jump back onto working on fleshing out my thesis from college - now that I'm out (and still have yet to find a steady job) I technically should have the time to be able to work on it. 

Now, if I could just have a steady internet connection! I dislike having to travel to other houses so that I can do so! 

I'll go ahead and drop some recent images while I'm at it...

Some updates~.

I've been doing my best to draw lately, so that I have! Here's a bit of spam with new artwork. It's really difficult - at my new apartment, I have a spotty connection at best... and until I get a steady job, I can't afford to sign a contract with one these expensive providers!

I tried to do something a bit different when it came to a character drawing/design - a different angle, simple background, and new subject/type.

It's not my character, but I enjoyed drawing him regardless.

Haha, I can never stray too long from my comic/anime inspired style. I guess starting out with it when I first started drawing, I drift back to it now and then. Anyway, here's one of my characters I've made, just a small illustration done in SAI and photoshop.

I'm officially with a BFA in Illustration. People keep trying to coax me into getting my Master's immediately, but I kinda need to make some money first, don't I?

Anyhow, I've been drawing here and there in between getting my place set up in Philadelphia - In a few weeks, I hope to start building up my studio (yay for having 2 room apartment!) Here's a small thing I did to the side. It's more in my comic style, although I plan to do more studies after today. This is one of my more known + liked characters, Ekon. No matter how comic or exaggerated I go with a style, I always manage to go more painterly into it, haha.

I updated my website link to direct to this blog for now, until I can finish up my website. Until then, here's some work in progresses of my thesis! It's getting pretty close - we start hanging next week. Here's in progress versions of my environments - I'm currently working on making the accompanying characters for each area spiffy, so that I can get them to the printers!

Oh man, senior show is coming up quick - But hey, nothing I can do but just muscle my way through. Anyway, these are some thumbnails of my next environment - Taurus, who was once a battle-great type, but after their loss in previous wars, have become neglected and more monk-like.

Forum Runs...

Sometimes I go through art site forums, and draw people's characters as practice in the requests sections. I've come to not exactly like asking for suggestions anymore - the same people will post in every single threads, haha.

Here's one that I started yesterday, and finished today:

Book dummies...

We've had to do dummies for my Children's illustration class - here's pages 11-20 for mine. They're not finished quality, but I think it's the quality/level that my teacher wishes for. I plan to go in during spring break when I have the time, and equalize all of the values - each page has their own set, somehow!

Only two real updates this time around. I'm currently in a children's illustration book class, and my personal project is an ABC book dealing with fairy tales and pies. Here's just sketches from the first section of the dummy...

First day of school.

At least I'm etching out a plan, haha. It's definitely weird... I don't like staying in the dorm -- or at least, somehow i've managed to block out why I disliked it so much, while away for break. I have three straight days of class, then four days off. Hoping that two of them will be used for working, eventually. The other two? Free time and studio work.

Anyway, today I had studio and one of my two history classes. But! Less talking, I'll post up one of my thumbs for an upcoming concept. Here I just messed with a silhouette I had sketched out...

So! Spring semester starts tomorrow.

9 hour day tomorrow, 6 hour day after that, 6 hour day after that, then four days off. I'll test two weeks to get myself into a pattern, then I'll go roaming for jobs.

I'm figuring out how my thesis will be fleshed out: It's going to be a fighting game, which can be translated either as a 2D or 3D, and based off of the zodiac signs being in a war.
